Welcome to Daniel's Crew!  This is the 8th year that I will be plunging for Special Olympics. I invite you to join me in the cold but fun plunge into Lake Springfield. Your support of Special Olympics is truly needed and appreciated!!

In 2009, Special Olympics changed my life. That's when I ran in my first Special Olympics track meet at Glenwood High School. I ran in the 800 meter and 1,500 meter races and won Gold. It gave me so much confidence. I've been hooked ever since.  I look forward to every spring and running season.

Since then, Special Olympics has given me many other opportunities besides running. I'm a Global Messenger and get to meet people and speak to audiences about how Special Olympics has changed my life. That confidence lead me to a new business and the opportunity to help others with disabilities find meaningful work.

This is a monumental year for Special Olympics. Fifty years ago in 1968, Eunice Kennedy Shriver started Special Olympics at Soldier's Field in Chicago with the first track meet. We honor her this year and celebrate the progress Special Olympics has made toward equality for people with disabilities. I am thrilled to be part of the movement that continues for people with disabilities to have equality in all aspects of life, including the workplace.

As a member of Daniel's Crew, I'd like you to have a poster of me running with the Illinois State Police cadets in the Law Enforcement Torch Run. I look forward to running with the torch each year before the Summer Games. The poster reflects my joy and the what I told my Mom that day: "I can run forever with them behind me. They really have my back."

Daniel's Crew members dress as Superman or any other Superhero. Last year, we made Superman t-shirts that have Daniel's Crew on the back. Please let me know if you would like to purchase one. It is not required.

Our team has set a personal fundraising goal and we need your help to reach it!  Any amount is appreciated – it all goes to one “cool” cause and gets us that much closer to our icy dip.  Best of all, your donation helps provide athletes with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in Special Olympics programs and reveal their inner champion.

Donating through this site is simple, fast, and secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our Polar Plunge efforts and show your support for Special Olympics Illinois.  If you would like to #PlungeWith us or learn more about this “official event of winter,” visit www.plungeillinois.com for all of the chilly details.

Thanks in advance for your support – and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
