Breathe & Bend Hot Yoga

2018 Plunge and Donut Dash - Carlyle

Team Update: One of our beloved yogis, Crystalyn Huegen, has a son who is a major participant in the Special Olympics. He is one of our many reasons we are #freezinforareason at Bend & Breathe Hot Yoga Studio in Albers, Il. I want to share something she posted on Facebook the other day about her and her husbands son, Alex.

"8 years ago our son was so angry. School had just started. Baseball had ended. He was even ridiculed by parents of another team for hitting off a T. He was the child always picked last. And he wanted to know why God gave him Autism. Why life was unfair? Why were people mean? Why was he never good at sports? Why was he different? That day I gave him that baseball bat and lead him to a tree and told him to let out all that hurt and anger. We cried.

And that is the year we found Special Olympics. And Alex found running. And somehow, on a snow covered Mountain, a love for running in the cold and snow was born.

So Right now, I am in a parking lot with Elite runners all over the STL area for a long distance running camp sponsored by Nike. This child is going to go out and run in 7 degree weather. Forget run, he is going to fly.

Never give up. Just do it. Fly."

It is going to be frigid! This winter our team will #PlungeWith Special Olympics Illinois at the 2018 Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge. That is right! We have committed to “be bold and get cold” for the 22,000 Special Olympics athletes participating across Illinois.

While we’re getting cold just thinking about it, we’re excited to join the thousands of warm-hearted individuals that will participate in the Polar Plunge.  While our Plunge promises to be a little frigid, we do not mind because we are supporting the amazing athletes of Special Olympics Illinois.

To jump into the frigid waters, our team has set a personal fundraising goal and we need your help to reach it!  Any amount is appreciated – it all goes to one “cool” cause and gets us that much closer to our icy dip.  Best of all, your donation helps provide athletes with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in Special Olympics programs and reveal their inner champion.

Donating through this site is simple, fast, and secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our Polar Plunge efforts and show your support for Special Olympics Illinois.  If you would like to #PlungeWith us or learn more about this “official event of winter,” visit www.plungeillinois.com for all of the chilly details.

Thanks in advance for your support – and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
