I'm finally making the leap!! Or in this case, I'm finally making that plunge!! Sunday, February 18th, I will #PlungeWith Special Olympics Illinois at the 2018 Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge. Yup that's right! I have committed to “be bold and get cold” for the 22,000 Special Olympics athletes participating across Illinois....sounds fun right?!

Why this charity?? Well my sister Candace was apart of the Special Olympics back when she was in high school and she was bringing home gold medals every year!! I think my parents even awarded her with "Best Cummings child" but who's jealous about that?? Not I, maybe Lauryn though. While I awaited for Candace to start one of her races, I was able to look around at all the other participants. I saw beautiful young children and adults demonstrating courage, experiencing joy and participating in sharing their gifts, skills and community with their families and friends. I always wanted to continue to part take in this charity after Candace graduated from school and never had the time, no is that time.

While I’m getting chills just thinking about it, I’m excited to join the thousands of individuals that will particapate in the plunge this year!!

But first, to jump into the frigid waters, I have set a personal fundraising goal and I need your help to reach it!  Any amount is appreciated – it all goes to one “cool” cause and gets me that much closer to my icy dip.  Best of all, your donation helps provide athletes with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in Special Olympics programs and reveal their inner champion.

Donating through this site is simple, fast, and secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my Polar Plunge efforts and show your support for Special Olympics Illinois.  If you would like to #PlungeWith me or learn more about this “official event of winter,” visit www.plungeillinois.com for all of the details.

Thanks in advance for your support – and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
