It is going to be frigid! This winter I will #PlungeWith Special Olympics Illinois at the 2018 Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge. That is right! I have committed to “be bold and get cold” for the 22,000 Special Olympics athletes participating across Illinois.

As the great-niece of a Special Olympian, this organization has always had a special place in my heart. While away at college I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to volunteer for the Special Olympics Area 4 Spring Games in Monmouth. After that, I was hooked! My friends and I made it a tradition to make every effort to be there each year thereafter. Even as volunteers this organization brought us so much joy; I can’t imagine how much it means to the athletes and their families.

The Special Olympics is more than just sporting for these athletes — it builds lifelong memories and friendships in a world where you are different. The awards they win are more than just ribbons & medals — they are symbols of accomplishment in a world that tells you that you will never amount to anything. The Special Olympics allows athletes to discover their strengths and learn to believe in themselves, which truly transforms lives.
Your generous gift will help fund year-round training & competitions for athletes with intellectual disabilities

Thanks in advance for your support – and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
