Once again, it is time for the Polar Plunge. I will be attending the 2018 Polar Plunge in Palatine Illinois at the Twin Lakes Recreation Area on February 18th, 2018 to raise money for the Special Olympics. This will be my 8th year raising money and awareness for Special Olympics Illinois and helping young athletes reach their dreams.
As most of you know, during our summer vacations at Fort Wilderness in Wisconsin, I work with a young boy named William. He is now 12 years old and has Downs Syndrome. I have been working with him since he was one year old. He has impacted my life greatly over the years and has given me the passion to raise money and support for this event. He is now able to participate in Special Olympics and enjoys it very much!
I also currently work in Special Education and get to see and experience the joy and excitement in my students as they prepare for their own Special Olympic endeavors. It is great to see them grow and be proud of their accomplishments.
I know that this is the time of yearwhenwe have spent money on Christmas gifts for our loved ones. Ihope you can spare some change and donate to this great cause!
