The Polar Plunge, presented by the Law Enforcement Torch Run and GEICO, is a unique opportunity to support Special Olympics athletes by taking a flying leap – a leap into the frigid waters of Twin Lakes. Participants must raise $100 in donations from friends, family and co-workers in exchange for jumping into the icy waters.
Plunge Time Information
The plunge will take place Sunday, February 18 at Twin Lakes located at 1200 E. Twin Lakes Dr., Palatine. Registration takes place at 10:00am with the plunge at 12pm.
Parking and Shuttle Information
All Plungers and Spectators and Volunteers are to park in the BMO Harris lot at 800 E. Northwest Hwy, Palatine, IL 60074.
Shuttles will run continuously from the parking lot to the Plunge Site from 8:30am – 2:30pm
ONLY VEHICLES DISPLAYING A HANDICAPPED PLACARD will be allowed to park at the Plunge Site. Space is limited and will be granted on a first-come, first-serve basis to individuals who would be unable to use the shuttle bus provided.
Carpools will NOT be allowed to drop-off at the plunge site. The parking lot at Twin Lakes will be used for the registration, changing and warming tents, so space is extremely limited and must be reserved for emergency personnel. We appreciate your cooperation by parking at 800 E. Northwest Hwy, Palatine, IL 60074.
Don not park in the Cotillion Banquet Parking Lot. You risk getting a parking ticket or towed. Please park only in the blue areas marked on the map.

Plunger Incentive Prizes
Plungers will receive incentive prizes based on the amount of money they raise. By raising the minimum of $100, you’ll receive an official Plunge hooded sweatshirt. Sweatshirts will be available for those who registered by January 28. All individuals who do not receive a sweatshirt the day of the event will have one mailed to them in April. Other prizes are awarded at the $250, $500 and $1,000 levels and will be mailed to participants in April.
