2021 O'Hare Plane Pull-0
Join us on October 2, 2021
Sorry, registrations are currently closed.
Special Olympics Illinois will do everything possible to ensure this event takes place on Oct. 2. If for some reason, the O’Hare Plane Pull is canceled, we will not be able to offer refunds as costs have already been accrued.
What is the Plane Pull?
The Plane Pull features the ultimate tug-of-war competition, as teams of up to 20 battle a UPS Airbus A300 or United Airlines 737, weighing more than 180,000 lbs. That is right, the plane weights nearly 90 tons! Each team raises a minimum of $1,000 to participate (only $50 per person for a team of 20).
Teams compete in one of three divisions:
- Open Division: Ideal for companies, school teams, clubs, friends and Families
- Public Safety Division: law enforcement, fire fighters, paramedics, EMT, DNR, DOC and military personnel; teams need at least 10 public safety competitors to qualify for this division
- Fitness Division: CrossFit, gyms or other fitness groups
- Hotel Division: solely for groups in the hotel industry

All participants should self-screen prior to arriving at this event and should remain home if feeling unwell or displaying coronavirus symptoms.
All participants are required to wear a mask regardless of vaccine status while indoors.
Vaccination is not required to attend in person events.
Special Olympics Illinois will not be providing masks. Participants must bring their own.
SOILL will have hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes/spray and other cleaning/sanitizing products on-site for participants’ use.
Every effort will be made to sanitize equipment and supplies that are routinely touched by the public. Social distancing will be encouraged at sales tables. The flow of purchasers will move in one direction to avoid crossing paths.
Even with the vaccine, there is no way to completely eliminate the risk of infection. Individuals with a higher susceptibility risk for COVID-19 are encouraged to review the information on the CDC and IDPH website to make an informed decision about attending in person events.
Special Olympics Illinois is committed to providing the best athlete, volunteer, coach and supporter environment possible. While we are excited to resume in-person events, the health and well-being of our constituents remains our top priority. All of our in person events follow the COVID-19 recommended IDPH and CDC guidelines.
