What is the Plane Pull?

The Plane Pull features the ultimate tug-of-war competition! Teams of up to 20 raise a minimum of $1,000 for the opportunity to test their strength by pulling an United Airlines 737, weighting more than 180,00 lbs, 12 feet as fast as possible. That is right, the plane weighs nearly 90 tons! 

Teams compete in one of the following divisions:

  • Open Division: Ideal for companies, school teams, clubs, friends and Families
  • Public Safety Division: law enforcement, fire fighters, paramedics, EMT, DNR, DOC and military personnel; teams need at least 10 public safety competitors to qualify for this division
  • Fitness Division: CrossFit, gyms or other fitness groups
  • Hotel Division: solely for groups in the hotel industry

Divisions that do not have a minimum of 5 teams registered by the day of the event will be absorbed into the Open Division. Click here to download the event flier

Team Captain Resources

Looking to register a team to PULL FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS ILLINOIS but not sure where to start? No worries, we got you! Check out this Team Captain Guide for helpful tips and information about getting your team started. If all your participants DO NOT register online, we ask that you send your Team Roster with T-shirt sizes to Sandy Nash by August 31, so they are available for you on-site. Any shirt sizes submitted after the deadline will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  

Submitting Offline Donations

Team Captains are responsible for collecting and submitting all offline donations for your team. Utilize this Offline Tracking Form to help stay organized. Offline donations may be submitted at registration the morning of the event OR mailed to the address below. When mailing donations, please exchange all cash into a money order/cashier check made out to Special Olympics Illinois and include an Offline Tracking Form
