It's that time of the year that dad will #PlungeFor acceptance, inclusion and fun as part of the 2017 Law Enforcement Torch Run Polar Plunge! That is right! He's committed to “be bold and get cold” for the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois by taking an icy dip into the frigid Lake Decatur waters!
I’m getting cold just thinking about it!! But he's excited to join the thousands of warm-hearted individuals that will participate in the Polar Plunge. The cold he'll experience is temporary; the positive impact this event makes on the lives of Special Olympics athletes just like me will last a lifetime! Our Dream Catchers Polar Plunge Team is made up of our Coaches, Athletes, Family Members, and great Friends. They are crazy, I think but they love doing to because they know how important it is to all the Special Olympic Illinois athletes!!
I need your help though! No, I’m not asking you to plunge alongside dad, but I hope you will support our efforts by making a donation to Special Olympics Illinois. Any amount is appreciated – it all goes to one “cool” cause and gets us that much closer to our goal. As I always say, "Every Penny Counts and IT Goes a Long Way to let us know you care about all of us in our very Special Population. Best of all your donation helps provide athletes with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to participate in Special Olympics programs and reveal our inner champion. Dad and all our terrific coaches give us the opportunity to do Special Olympics sports like Aquatics, Track & Field, Bocce, Bowling, Basketball, Basketball Skills, Equestrian, Softball, Golf and our newest sport - Flag Football. Our athletes and coaches are busy all year long!! That is so great cause we get to see each other at all our practices and make friendships that last a lifetime. See the picture of me and teammates above. This was a great time at Central A&M High School with their amazing Champion Girls Basketball Team. They've had a couple of practices with us and asked our teams to come out and play at the halftime of their game! We've made lots of friendships with them and really really love to play on their floor and be just like them. Each one of us is a super special athlete and champion!! They make us feel so proud. As proud as we are of them!!
Now donating through this site is simple, fast, and secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Illinois. If you would rather send a check to my home address, you sure can. Please make the check out to Special Olympics Illinois and mail it to me at my home address at 28 Ridge Lane Drive, Decatur, IL 62521. I would need to have the check by March 1 in order to get it turn in on time. If you'd like to learn more about this “official event of winter,” visit www.plungeillinois.com for all of the chilly details.
Thanks so much for wonderful support. It means so much to me and my friends. I always say this but I mean it, you are the person that makes our dreams come true with your donation. YOU ARE OUR HEROES!!! I wish you could join us to cheer us on for our competitions. I know you'd have a a great time!!! And don't forget to please forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
