The Polar Plunge, presented by Law Enforcement Torch Run and GEICO, is a unique opportunity to support Special Olympics athletes by taking a flying leap – a leap into the frigid waters of Miller Park Lake. Participants must raise $100 in donations from friends, family and co-workers in exchange for jumping into the icy waters.
Plunge Time Information
The plunge will take place Saturday, February 25 at Miller Park Lake located at 1020 S. Morris Ave., Bloomington, IL . There will be two shifts of plungers, the first registrion takes place at 9:00am with the plunge at 10:30am and registration for the second plunge begins at 10:30 with the plunge at 12pm. All plungers will be assigned a plunge time and will be informed when they will be plunging. Download your plunge waiver here and download the plunge order here.
Save time and bypass registration on the day of the Plunge by pre-registering. We will have two pre-registration parties with an opportunity to Give Back to Special Olympics Illinois! The first pre-registration event will be held Monday Feb. 20, at Buffalo Wild Wings, 3220 E. Empire St., Bloomington, from 6-9pm. You will have a second chance to pre-register on Wednesday Feb. 22 at Buffalo Wild Wings, 603 S. Main St., Normal, from 6-9pm. If you decide, you would like to grab some wings or dinner on either of these nights, print out and present these flyers to your server and 15% of your bill will go back to Special Olympics Illinois!
The tickets need to be printed. They do not need to be printed in color. Digital copies will not be accepted.
One check per ticket. For example, if a group of four pays on one check, they only need to have one ticket. If they pay on two checks, they need to have 2 tickets.
ANYONE can use them! These flyers can be presented by anyone, not just our Plungers. So invite your friends and family to join you, grab some dinner and help the athletes of Special Olympics Illinois!
Registration is simple; drop off your donation money, sign your waiver and pick up your wristband. Attending pre-registration also means you will be able to pick up your 2017 Polar Plunge sweatshirt early. Sweatshirts will be distributed on a first-come first-serve basis so do not wait too long!
REMEMBER if you are under the age of 18 a parent or guardian must sign your waiver in order for you to plunge.
Buses will take plungers and spectators to the Miller Park Lake Pavilion and drop off on S. Morris Ave. The shuttles will pick up every 15 minutes (9:15, 9:30; 9:45; etc.) from Trinity Lutheran. They will run continuous routes picking up and dropping off. The final round of shuttles will leave Trinity Lutheran at noon and will then only be running return routes from Miller Park until 2 p.m.

Plungers will receive incentive prizes based on the amount of money they raise. By raising the minimum of $100, you’ll receive an official Plunge hooded sweatshirt and admission to the post-plunge party.
